Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services LTD. has been serving Schaumburg area families for years. We are honored to be a part of the rich history of this community and plan to be a part of it for many years to come.

Arthur F. Ahlgrim, our founder, was a man of compassion.  He believed that every human being was entitled to a dignified final tribute and that every bereaved family was deserving of compassionate assistance at their greatest time of need. With these beliefs, he established the first Ahlgrim Undertaking Parlor, in the vicinity of 14th Street and Blue Island Avenue in Chicago in 1892.

In 1905, he moved his undertaking parlor to West 21st Street in Chicago to better serve his community. His son Walter joined the firm in 1925 after graduating from the Worsham College of Mortuary Science and receiving Illinois Funeral Directors license #31. Together they established a second funeral home in 1928 at 5701 West Division Street.

Arthur F. retired in 1944, and Walter continued to grow the Ahlgrim funeral business by constructing a new funeral home in 1956 in Elmhurst. Walter’s sons, Arthur, Robert and Roger joined the family business in 1957. The family has always felt their need to serve their neighbors. Together the family opened the Palatine location in 1964, the Schaumburg location in 1971 and the Lake Zurich location in 1987. Arthur’s son Scott, Robert’s sons James and John, and Roger’s sons Douglas and Jeffrey all began working with their fathers as the 4th generation.

Since 1892, The Ahlgrim Family has had deep roots in the communities they serve and a deep commitment with their support of local charities, schools and other community events. Our motto, “Continuing a Tradition of Excellence in Service, Reliability & Care” is just the beginning of the standards that we hold ourselves to. We stand ready to serve our communities in time of need, by providing prompt service with a trained, caring and supportive staff.
